When I left Czernowitz I was eight, not five.
Some members of this list can vouch for that.
Is it not possible that I knew something at the age of eight,
which Hardy did not know at age 14?
Actually I have in my possession notes written by my maternal
grandfather
about his childhood and youth in Czernowitz. Much of what he writes
is about the degree of religiosity of his family and of Czernowitz in
general.
In addition, this subject was often discussed by members of my family,
because my great-grandparents were Wiznitzer Hassidim of very great
"yiches",
(descendant of famous rabbis and scholarly men)
and because among my many relatives there were both the very religious
as well as the totally irreligious.
