Czernowitz, perished. The parents of my father, Yerma and ZirlHorowitz and=
the parents of my mother, Osias and Zipora (Cilly) Pomeranz died duringthe=
first winter (1941-1942). My parents, Bernhard and Laura Horowitz and mymo=
ther=E2=80=99s sister, Edith (Dita) Pomeranz survived, but Dita died afterw=
ards,after long severe sufferings, caused by the years in Bershad. After th=
e deathof my parents, I found the poems in German, which they had written i=
n Bershad. Someof them where published in a little volume =E2=80=9CStimmen =
der Nacht=E2=80=9D at Hartung-GorreVerlag (Konstanz,2000). =C2=A0=C2=A0Best=

Was it the introduction by Andrzej Polec from Warsaw, was it the hospitalit=
y of the Jews from Bershad, was it their vivid interest in my travel experi=
ences or was it at the end of the day my feeling of attachment to them? I d=
on't know, any way, the reception in the two hundred years old synagogue by=
about half of the remaining - fourty - Jews of Bershad was awesome, but de=
cide by yourself...?!
