Edgar - thanks so much for posting the amazing photos of Bershad. I understand enough Yiddish to get the details. And even if I miss a few words here and there, it is still so nice to hear Yiddish spoken. And Miriam — I read your very well written piece about your visit to Bershad as the creation of the new monument for the mass grave there.
I discovered from the Yad Vashem Archives that my great grandmother did not perish with her family in the massacre at Stanestie de jos. She died at Bershad from exposure and starvation.
When I do finally get to visit Bukowina, I want to be sure to travel to Bershad as well.
It is wonderful that people in our Czernowitz Discussion Group work so hard to preserve the memories of these places.
Thanks so much again

Miriam...
Thank you very much for your mail. Actually it's you and
your family, who took care of the commemoration and I, as a
"Flying Dutchman" I'm just reporting on it. BTW, there are
much more photos from Bershad, as well as from the other
visited places, to share, but that's to be done upun my
return.
Hope, you'll enjoy my travel log!
