Dear all.

Subject: [Cz-L] The situation in CZ

[Plain text next time --thanks]
Hello all,
I received this message from Zoya Danilovich who was our guide and friend
when we visited in 2009. We all need to count our blessings! Is there any
relief for current Czernowitzers?
Zoya and other guides were instrumental to many of us searching for
important information and documents and in our desire to get to know the
Czernowitz that our parents and ancestors spoke about. She helped me
fulfill my life long dream and is part of a generation that grew up in
Czernowitz ignorant of it's past but eager to learn and understand. Many of
us had the opportunity to visit during a time where access to information
and the places that our parents and grandparents lived was facilitated by
the "revolution" and the subsequent freedom to travel around without any
fear. I worry this will be very different for a long time.
Regards,
Ilana
>From Zoya:
"The situation in Cz is much better that in Donbass, where Donetsk and
nearby cities and villages, all that is destroyed, a lot of grief, all that
is impossible to describe even, my cousin lives in Donetsk, he tells me all
those stories... just heartbreaking...
Here there is no war, but people live a very harsh life both morally
because of the war ( over 40 boys from Cz were killed ) and lost hopes, we
expected our life to be improved after the revolution, but it is the
contrary: our economy is destroyed by corruption and war, all prices went
up 3 times, because the exchange rate of dollars is different now - one
dollar costs 3 times more now than before, so people also suffer physically
and psychologically. They can not afford to buy food, clothing, or to pay
for gas ( 7 times more than before, it was one of the demands of EU, they
asked Greece to do the same, but they refused ), etc etc.
Sorry to load you with our problems, there are problems everywhere in this
or that aspect.
Big hug and kisses ( today is the Day of Kisses )
Zoya"
