Lloyd,
With the exception of historical cities and metropolis like N.Y., a small city like Czernowitz with its 100,000.00 inhabitants, has quite a remarcable fame. It is not only our subjective opinion, feeling or nostalgia; there is a worldwide interest in Czernowitz for multiple reasons, most of you are familiar with. So yes, I still believe that it was it a unique city and one that had no intention of competing with New York or Jerusalem.
