Let's clarify the figures based on the Census of Romania for the Year 1930

with respect to the Cernauti (Czernowitz) Department:

The total population of the Cernauti (Czernowitz) Department - i. e. URBAN

AND RURAL POPULATION - totals to 306,194, out of which
131,429 to be numbered to the urban population (Czernowitz, Cosmeni,
Sadagu=
ra, Zastavna)
174,765 to be numbered to the rural population (rest of Bukovina)
Coming back to the urban population, the total population of the
municipali=
ty of Cernauti (Czernowitz) totals to 112,427, out of which
42,592 (=3D 37.90 %) were Jewish,
32,731 (=3D 29.10 %) declared Yiddish as mother tongue,
42,932 (=3D 38,20 %) declared Mozaic religion.
