Just some curiosity that I just realised by looking at a seminar my oldest granddaughter is preparing for her end of studies at Bar-Ilan on Jewish History. The seminar is on Messianism with accent on Frankism. It appears that both Yaacov Frank (who adopted Christianity) as well as his predecessor and teacher - Shabtai Zvi (who adopted Islam) - both lived for certain periods in Czernowitz and Sniatin, and there are hypotheses that for a certain period Zvi taught Frank in Czernowitz, in the first half of the 18th century. This may have been raised before on the ehpes blog - I did not check, and apologise if this is so
