About Shabbetai Zevi 1627 - 76 , he convinced Jewish Communities
in Poland, Italy, Turkey that he is a Meshiah to follow him to then
Palestine. He convinced many communities to follow him. Jews sold
whatever they could to follow him. The then Turkish authorities became
alarmed at his movement. He was arrested and given the choice
to convert to Islam or die. He chose Islam. 10 years after his conversion
he suddenly died on Jom Kippur at the age of 50.
The Shabbatean Movement went into decline, it ended about 1725.
Al this & Chassidism started in Podolia & Volhynia which at that time
would could be Czernowitzer area. I can't say much about Yaakov Frank.
