Berti...

You raised a most interesting question, i. e. who exactly filled in the dat=
a for the census effected as per December 31, 1890. I rechecked (and upload=
ad) the instructions by the Austrian authorities, compared them and additio=
nally the entry with the signature (see below)

and come to the conclusion, that it was most probably Isak Hauster himself,=
as the houseowner of Kuczurmarerstrasse No. 30, who filled in the form.

Well, Isak Hauster and Chane Jente Silber were my great-grandparents and El=
ias (my grandfather), Salamon, Lea and Sara were their children. Isak was i=
n fact a school janitor, but it was a "shul/synagogue" rather than a "Schul=
e/school". They were poor people - the wealth came by the daughter-in-law =
= Elias' wife - and their ordinary language was Yiddish. That's why I'm a=
ssuming, that they apparently did not know to write or to read (German), ex=
cept my grandfather Elias, and his sister Sara. But how could Isak fill in =
the form, perhaps assisted by his more educated children - who knows...?

Thank you, Berti, for drawing once again my attention to this census primar=
y data!
