Thanks for the comments Edgar and Irene, and glad you enjoyed the video.
Bruce did clarify that his concern was not that the post was off topic, but
that we might get into discussions about the refugee situation, which would
be.

I would love to have further info about Manger, especially his songs. Has
the topic come up before on our site? And who can tell me something about
the 'biddy biddy bom" chorus that the folks sing with the driver/shepherd?
I didn't find that in the English translation I saw of the song. But I feel
like I've heard it before in another song. Is that just Yiddish sounds that
don't have meaning or translation?

Joanna...

I'd like to let you know, that I appreciate very much both your earlier
comments on the genesis of Ehpes as well as your posting on Itzik Manger's
"Oyfn Veg Shteyt a Boym" since I didn't expect the song in such a context.
No doubt about it's a heart-touching story in tensioned times and Itzik
Manger is one of "our" most prominent Czernowitzers. Certainly it wasn't
your post itself, which evoked Bruce's notice, but possible reactions on it
with the potential of leading away from our topics. Thank you for your
commitment and warmest wishes to you!
