I am not sure if my original E mail to this group was received, thus I am
repeating my original E mail with additional information. Thanks.
I am a member of Jewish Gen for many years, my special interest is in the
German SIG but Rabbi Weinberg of Chabad sought my assistance "in helping a
woman find herself" his words not mine. I have been in communication with
Avraham Groll of Jewish Gen who advised me to get in touch with Rosanne
Leeson, who forwarded my information to Bruce Reisch who suggested that I post
this message to the Czernowitz group.

Edith Shuster was born in Cernanti Rumania on 6/21/1939. Now Cernanti is
known as Chernvitsi Urkraine which is also known as Czernowitz Urkraine. Her
father's first name was Yuri. Her mother's first name was Chana or Hana. At
the age of 4 1943 Edith's parents gave her to a Catholic neighbor to bring
up as the daughter of the neighbor. The neighbor had her baptized. How the
church records accounted for this Edith has no knowledge. Edith's parents
disappeared. Edith is now 76, not in the best of health and has a care giver
At age 16 Edith was told that she is now a woman and she has to have her
own life. That was the end of the neighbors care. In 1970 she came to
America, married, worked etc. Edith's husband died several years ago.
Edith went to Chabad because she knew her mother was Jewish and Edith wants
to come back to her heritage.
I have researched the Rumanian data base and brought to Edith what ever
information I had. Being four ages old at the time she could not recognize
any of the names listed. One of the questions I have is how can she obtain a
birth certificate or any other information needed to help Edith find her
life. I have also sent an e mail to the Holocaust Museum hoping that with
their insight and the data bases they have ITS records etc there might be some
records of her parents.
I have also researched the Jewish Gen Online Worldwide Burial Registry for
Bessarabia and have located a possibility. Ayreh Shuster born April 1st
1905, and Chana Rivka Shuster born Feb 28th 1905, their grave sites are in the
cemetary located in Khotyn Urkraine. Further communication with Bruce
provided information that Khotyn is only 40 miles from Chernivtsi.
If any of the members knew of the Shuster family or can provide assitance
it would be most appreciated.

Thank you, Jack Hubert.
