As the son of Czernowitz survivors, deeply affected by my mom's Tramistria =
experience, not to mention my dad's difficulties, I am very glad that there=
is possibility to memorialize the holocaust in Czermowitz.
I was not born there, but have visited and follow the discussions on this s=
ite daily.
I think that Christian makes very good points.
Our comments should be constructive and realistic.
I think it might be a good idea to engage in understanding what we can do t=
o make it happen.
I am unclear as to whether or not there are separate funds which have been =
secured to repair the chapel at the cemetery, which is a beautiful structur=
e.
Is part of discussion suggesting that the holocaust museum could be connect=
ed or adjacent to this structure.
If this is a possibility, it might draw more people to the cemetery itself =
and result in greater attention to it in line with Mimi's efforts.
I would like to understand who will be designing the project and how much i=
s available to support it.
If additional funds are needed, I would be glad to work in an organized way=
with others to help raise them once there is a firm plan.
To me, Mr. Zissel's seems to be the best individual suited to make this lon=
g overdue museum possible.
We should consider what might be in the museum, how many square feet will b=
e possible, and perhaps ask input from the Holocaust museum in Washington o=
r the Jewish Heritage Museum in NYC, as well as Yad Vashem. I would be glad=
to help in any outreach.
As the year ends and a new one begins, I wish everyone on this list a very =
peaceful and healthy new year.
I know that there are numerous silent readers in Ukraine as well as other r=
egions who have overtly and quietly helped many of us and given our causes =
support who I would especially like to wish the very best on the new year.

Dear All
Some reflections on the subject, and many hopes:
With the hope that the Jewish community in Chernivtsi has a strong and la=
sting position, and hoping there is no intention to cancel the presence of =
the Jewish community in its traditional home , and... especially with the h=
ope for the cooperation of the local authorities in this project - there is=
hope that the location of a reputable institution building at the cemetery=
will also have a positive affect on the state of maintenance of the cemete=
ry itself.
