Tocz recommended to consume on day of production, when still warm.
After that it loses its color and charm.
Some like it cold ?
Rumanians eat cold mamaliga.
They come to work with a "Botz"(clump) of cold mamaliga tied to their belts
,
This, with some salami on the street corner....

Tocz was usually about 5 cm. or 2" tall.
It was made of raw grated potatoes, flour, eggs, yeast and salt And baked in
an oiled square tin.
In Czernowitz, it typically did not include either onions or garlic.
On the subject of onions: they were included raw and chopped fine In Vinete,
egg salad, bean salad and of course in chopped herring And chopped chicken
livers.
They were also included fried: in soups, meat stews, pot roasts, fillings
for Knishes, Pirogen, Mayine, etc.
Generally they were not eaten boiled and were not included In Tocz or malai.
