I cannot compete with the literary analyze in the Latke debate,
But I can compete any of you in consuming fresh made fried latkes in deep corn oil
in my mothers old and black frying pan,

Dear all and Mimi,
As far as I remember, my mother always made potato pancakes from fresh potatoes. She called them LATKES. With onions, egg, salt and pepper, fried, they are absolutely delicious when still warm. One can add a finely grated carrot for colour.
