Mimi is right in her description of "Friedmann's".
Keep in mind that lunch in those days was the main meal of the day.
One of their bestsellers were the "Gemüseschnitzel" (vegetable patties).
My mother and her women friends spent afternoons there indulging in
gossip, pastries and coffee or tea. We kids, who were "brought along" by the
Muttis liked the pastries, especially the "Indianerkrapfen" (cake base, chocolate
frame, filled with whipping cream".
