Dear Margaret,
in my database of persecuted musicians I have two persons named Auerbach
linked to Czernowitz:
. Franz Manon SINGER AUERBACH, b. 1914 Czernowitz, pianist, conductor,
accordeon player, lived in Czernowitz, Cologne, Vienna, after 1938 13
Debora Hanevia Str. Tel Aviv. In 1936 Conductor (popular music?) in
Bukarest, in Tel Aviv (?) accordeon player in musical shows. No other
information ( a long standing open question)
. Mayer AUERBACH, b. 15.12.1873 in Kuczumari ( or, according to Yad Vashem
in Mannheim?), in Vienna musician, in Czernowitz photographer. Lived in
Berczow, Heidelberg, 1909 Vienna, then Czernowitz and Jassy. According to
Yad Vashem database died 29.06.1941 in the ghetto (of Jassy?). Father
Jehuda Auerbach, mother Idi, married to Chana, née Perl 1878. Children:
Jetti Auerbach, b. 1903, Frida Auerbach, b. 1907, Cilla Auerbach, married
Goldstein.
Maybe some of these names make sense to you!
Best wishes
Primavera
