Re: Happy Birthday Ukraine

"No way Jose," can Napoleon Bonaparte be compared to Hitler.
In Jewish History he can maybe be compared to Alexander the Great.

Till today so many Jewish boys and Girls are named Alexander and
Alexandra. The same but (much less) concerning Napoleon, many
Jews have/carry Napoleon as a personal name, others have
Bonaparte as a family name ( I know of one Israeli family that
Hewerized their Bonaparte family name to Ben Porat).

Changing the name to Bonaparte became so popular with Jews
in France at the time of Napoleon that the local Rabbis proposed
a Hebrew translation of the name Bonaparte which is "Lekah Tov,"

Why was he so liked among the Jews? I'll just mention 2 two (of
many reasons):
a) He Promised to liberate Eretz Yisrael from the Ottoman Empire and
give it to Jews (YES about 148 years before the re-establishment of
Jewish sovereignty on (small) parts of Eretz Yisrael).
b) As part of this "package deal," he promised the Jews to rebuild
the Holy Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

As the saying goes, there are no free meals. All Napoleon wanted
in exchange, was Jewish support in his Middle East Campaign.
It seems that our Jewish ancestors, got cold feet, and bet on the
wrong horse, and all the rest as we say is HISTORY.

Historians do not like to use the 2 two letter word "IF," but just think
"IF" our Jewish Ancestors would have jumped at Napoleon's proposal
(about 1800) and we would have had Jewish sovereignty then, it might
have saved us from the calamities of the 19th and 20th centuries,
like Pogroms and Holocaust.
