Hello Everyone,
I am new to the group and glad to have found such an impressive representat=
ion around the world of folks with Chernowitz roots.=C2=A0 I myself am part=
of the most recent (and likely last) great migration of the Chernowitz Jew=
s and currently living in California, USA.=C2=A0 My father (Ilya Khoch), ho=
wever, still lives in Chernowitz and is very active in the Jewish community=
causes and preserving the memories.=C2=A0 As part of those initiatives, he=
has been spearheading the construction of a Holocaust memorial on the site=
of the former Jewish ghetto.=C2=A0 The project has been in the works for q=
uite some time and construction is currently under way.=C2=A0 The projected=
unveiling of the memorial is the week of October 4th, to coincide with the=
celebrations of the City Day. =C2=A0 =C2=A0=C2=A0=20
Given the importance of this project, I offered to lead the fundraiser to h=
elp pay for the completion of the memorial.=C2=A0 We thought that a grassro=
ots approach would be most meaningful, hence my reaching out to this group.=
=C2=A0=20
