Hello Czernowitzers,
After the visits of the delegation of the World Organization of Bukovina
Jews to Stanesti de Jos, Mrs. Carol Simon Elias also posted an article and
pictures about this village. Her mother and grandparents survived a pogrom
which took place on July 5th and 6th, 1941 in the small village of
Unter-Stanestie (Stanestie de Jos) and in its tiny, neighboring, almost
unknown, unmentioned village of Vivis (Vivos) in Romania (now Ukraine).
With her permission I publish it to this group. Please look at:
http://www.eylonconsulting.com/bukovina/blog/?p=1705
Please note that when we were there we surveyed the cemetery and now we
learn that there is also a memorial, next to the Christian cemetery, with a
structure similar to what we saw in other places (Budinets, Chudey and
Drazhynets).
Thanks, Baruch
