Hi all
In reading "Die Pessch" I also found another word she uses "Pomeie"
which is translated as "Abwaschwasser" meanig used dirty water. There is
another word similar to that "Pometeies" which means used or remnants of
food. My mother would collect the "Pometeies" and twice a week a
peasant would come to collect them to feed his porks.
In Czernowitz when someone did not want to eat the food because it did
not look nice or fresh the standard answer would be "you can eat it,
nothing will happen to you, look the porks grow fat even from Pometeies".
