In most languages the genitive case shows by this possible double interpretation that you need background knowledge for the meaning of some words. Love of God like mothers' list can be understood in an objectal or subjectal way.

Of course the genitive case can be circumscribed in order to make things clear but best look at background e.g. reading the book - hopefully the conflict will disappear.
