Dear Mimi,

"Schwarze Milch" - zurückgehaltene Briefe aus den Todeslagern Transnistriens" - edited by Benjamin M. Grilj in cooperation with Serhij Osatschuk and Dmytro Zhmundyljak in 2013 is probably the book you remember. Letters, touching documents reflecting anguish, anxiety and despair but hope nevertheless not knowing that they would never reach the addressed people.

Kind regards,
Marion

Betreff: [Cz-L] Letters sent to Transnistria
Dear Czernowitzers,

It seems that old age is catching up with me, in Czernowitz, I might
Have been called "alt und ausgewept" (old and weak-minded).
My memory is not what it used to be, neither am I as industrious.

I remember that at one time there was correspondence on our list about letters
which were sent to Transnistria but never reached the people they were sent to,
instead were kept in some archive in Romania. Today, in clearing my desk,
I found copies of these letters sent to me by Vadim Altskan of the United States
Holocaust museum. Most, or probably all the letters are in German.
Some of the handwriting is difficult to read, but unless they have been transcribed
And, or translated, I am willing to attempt the task.

Please, if any of you know whether these letters have been transcribed and or
translated, let me know, so that I do not attempt to reinvent the wheel.

Best regards,

Mimi
