Why did she assume a different response? Is it possible the owner was offended by a last minute visit by a woman with her bra showing, asking to come into his house? I wouldn't read too much into it. As long as she enjoyed seeing the town but today Europe, and others, have become more right wing, as evidenced by recent activity in Poland.
The pendulum is fighting its way to the right.
