Dear Eric,

there is quite a lot of activity concerning the preservation of the Jewish heritage in the town of Rohatyn. This is mainly due to the committment of Marla Raucher Osborn, a Rohatyn descendant, and her husband Jay Osborn.

Please have a look on their website and feel free to support them: http://rohatynjewishheritage.org/

The letter Heike read was written in German in Ternopil ghetto and smuggled to Israel. If you like I can share it with you.

Yes, there is a search feature. Just scroll down, you will find it in the footer to the left.

Best,
Christian

Hello Christian,

Thank you for the wonderful photos and updates. Through you, we who have not visited Ukraine can live vicariously.

I see the photos of the mass grave at Rohatyn from your May 25, 2018 entry. I am wondering if there are any Jewish cemeteries in Rohatyn, or any signs of past/present Jews at all? Do you recall what Heike read to the group pictured in your photo?

Also, does your wonderful blog have a search feature? I would very much like to search all of your posts for various town names.

Thank you,
Eric Jung

May 25 was the last day of our 12-day journey through Galicia, Bukovina and Bessarabia in Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova. Our itinerary took us on the way back to Lviv to Tysmenytsia, Halych, Burshtyn, Rohatyn and Bibrka.
