I've just joined this list and would like to introduce myself. My name
is Theresa Kishkan and I live on Canada's west coast. I'm a writer (more
information on my books can be found at my website). My paternal
grandfather John Kishkan came from Ivankivtsi, a village 30 kms from
Chernovtsi. He was born in 1879 and left in 1907 to come to first New
Jersey, finding his way to western Canada by 1911. I don't know much
about him. He died when I was 2 years old. But I am interested in
knowing more about the place he came from, its history, its landscape,
its culture(s). He was Orthodox, his family was poor, and I've been able
to find out a little about his family using the LDS metrical records.
But there's so much they don't tell. I will probably be a silent
participant on this list, listening and learning.
