FYI
Re Edgar's description of "legendary" Chelm and my comment therein - please note that there are a number of books still published and available from Amazon and others in English - google the item The Wise Men of Chelm - Books.
Parents - or Grandparents - who wish to acquaint their kids or grandkids, resp,, with these hilarious stories and puns about the Wisdom of the savants from Chelm can do so; there are also used books available at reduced prices. Those of you in Israel will find a number of such books in Hebrew as well.
Spread the word around. A nice way to keep this lore still alive.
Just to quip before saying Shavua Tov and Khodesh tov - a short one: The melamed of Chelm tells his wife "Oh. had we the fortune of Rothshild, we could be richer than he". "How come?" wonders his wife - " Well, I would do a bit of teaching by the side..."
Regards and Have Fun
Mordecai
