The fall issue of Moment magazine has an interview with former US
ambassador to Romania, Alfred Moses. He wrote a book Bucharest Diary about
Romania's recent history. It might be interesting to those of us, who were
born in Romania. The link is:

The closing comment in the article is somewhat depressing but very probably
true:

No. The Jewish community tries to survive, but it=E2=80=99s an elderly comm=
unity.
Young people, Jewish and non-Jewish, are moving westward to France, Italy,
Germany, England and the United States, and east to Israel. Romania=E2=80=
=99s
Jewish community has the material means to survive because of reparations,
but it can=E2=80=99t truly provide a vibrant, exciting Jewish life for its =
youth.
If I were a young Jew in Romania today, I would set my sights on moving to
Israel.
