"The traces were still there. But time would slowly blur them and nothing would be left." (Edgar Hilsenrath)

Czernowitzers...

This is the motto Olga Stefan is placing in front of the transnational and interdisciplinary project "The Future of Memory",

http://www.thefutureofmemory.ro/

focused on the Holocaust in Eastern Europe, including Romania, Bukovina and Bessarabia, a platform of Holocaust remembrance, with events and exhibitions organized in cities where pogroms or deportations took place.

Olga stated: "The mission of this project is to raise awareness in the public about the participating country’s and individual cities’ past, reactivating memory through contemporary art and media, connecting the past to the present, documenting the last witnesses, personalizing history through oral narratives, creating connections between people and opening up public spaces for debate and mutual understanding."

In addition, please on't miss Olga's (English subtitled) eye-opening documentary "My Illusions" on Vimeo:

https://vimeo.com/251773590

The film presents the personal stories of the residents of the Moses Rosen Retirement Home in Bucharest, taking us through the Jewish quarter, in the areas where scenes of antisemitic violence took place during the 1941 pogrom, at the houses of the film’s subjects, and in front of the buildings that played an important role in the life of the Jewish community and Jewish identity before, during and after the war.

Thank you so much, dear Olga, for drawing our attention to your website and kudos for your outstanding commitment!

Edgar Hauster
