Hi Regine,
Wikipedia says that the word "recte" is used to correct an error in
the source. LINK: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/recte

Best,

Hallo out there. I am brand new to the list - and to any Czernowitz
site/blog/research project.
My late father was born in Czernowitz, as were his brothers and parents -
don't know anything about further removed generations.
Having just returned from a visit of Transnistrien and Czernowitz with the
Israeli 'association of Bukoviners' I would love to find out more and
receive the answer to an unresolved mystery:
My father's family goes under two different but somehow connected family
names FINGER recte STURM.
What does recte stand for? My father's older brother went by the name of
FINGER only. My father had papers using one name of the other but later
"chose" the name STURM. His younger brother apparently never carried the
name FINGER.
My grandfather's name was WOLF FINGER recte STURM my grandmother's maiden
name was GOTTLIEB (Pepi)
I would greatly appreciate your input. Iwill be grateful for any help
you can give a total beginner.
Regards,
Regine
