Czernowitzers...
It took more than three quarters of a century and a lot of - mainly external - persuasion, but at least in the recent past the Romanian Government's perception of the Holocaust has changed significantly. The responsibility of Greater Romania under the dictatorship of Ion Antonescu in the specific Romanian Holocaust is clearly acknowledged, and even more, the tendencies to deny, relativize or downplay Romania's role have diminished. Thus, the leading Romanian historians are in line with their foreign colleagues.
It is yet again my friend Prof. Dr. Mariana Hausleitner who points us to an interesting and nuanced article by Dr. Stefan Purici and Dr. Harieta Mareci Sobol, both Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava [Courtesy Codrul Cosminului:

In the near future I will add more examples of the changing self-understanding of political authorities in Romania, which made its way into academic research and civil society too.
