With all due respect to all the members of this list.
I am also a direct descendant of Bucovina. My GGparents were from South Galitzia, Czernovitz, Radautz and Arbore. All former A-H jurisdictions. My maternal Gfather fought and was wounded with the Czernovitz regiment under Austria during WWI. However, being a veteran did not save him and his family from deportation to Transnistria. He and my maternal Gmother are buried either in a mass grave or in one of the countless unmarked burial sites nearby Moghilev.
I am the son of Holocaust survivors, born in Venezuela, today proudly a U.S. citizen. Raised without hatred but with a solid Jewish identity, a strong foundation of our origins, and memories of a "Vanished World" (as coined by Mr. Christian's blog). I would add: Intentional Vanished World...
While the U.S. is not perfect, and I value a society and system of free choice, I am baffled why anyone holding US or Israeli citizenship would ever entertain (so intensely by some in this and other blogs, yes including FB), the idea of an Austrian passport.
Why is this so important?
I would understand if you were trying to migrate from a troubled (i.e. Venezuela) or a country with increasing antisemitic incidents.

The Jewish Community of Vienna has found that right-wing ideology played a significant role behind Austria's antisemitic attacks.
