Dear friends,

Once more I'm getting back to the "Book of the Month, May 2015: Never Forget!"

http://czernowitzbook.blogspot.de/2015/05/du-sollst-nicht-vergessen-never-forget.html

with two significant notes, as disclosed to all of us by our fellow member Marion Tauschwitz and by Yoram Amadon, the grandson of Dr. Hermann Sternberg.

Marion drew my attention to the fact, that I erroneously located Daghani's painting, which I used for the front cover of the Book of the Month, May 2015

http://goo.gl/MRMmDV

to Cariera de Piatra. As a matter of fact, it's from the Michailowka camp and Marion is offering the touching background to this painting at her Selma Merbaum biography (p. 224/225):

http://ehpes.com/blog1/2014/10/04/selma-merbaum-ich-habe-keine-zeit-gehabt-zuende-zu-schreiben/

Dr. Hermann Sternberg got on the occasion of his graduation „promotio sub
auspiciis imperatoris“, i. e. „under the auspices of the Austrian
Emperor“, in 1912 a diamond ring with the initials of the Emperor, similar to this one:

I was asking Yoram, whether the diamond ring with the initials of the Emperor, which his grandfather got on the occasion of his graduation is still owned by his family. Yoram wrote to me: "Dear Edgar, Shortly before they were transported to Transnistria my grand parents hid the ring, together with other valuables and jewellery, in the cellar under the pavement. The documents were put in a safe in a wall and after being transported the cellar was excavated by the Romanian gendarms/their Romanian neighbours-nothing was left. The safe in the wall wasn’t found so the documents still exist in my possesion. Best regards! Yoram"

Thank you all for your valuable contributions and "stay tuned" for the "Book of the Month, June 2015", stands for the reprisal for the crimes committed by the Romanian war criminals in Bukovina and Transnistria!

Edgar Hauster

> Cornel: No, unfortunately this book doen't exist in English. Actually it's just an ebook, wich I compiled from Dr. Hermann Sternberg's original diary adding a front cover designed specially for this purpose by me. On the front cover you'll discover Hermann's pass from Bershad as well as one of Arnold Daghani's most famous paintings, showing the "Barack" in Cariera de Piatra camp in Transnistria:

> Hardy: You are very right and your short analysis comes straight to the point. As far as I know, Dr. Hermann Sternberg testified against war criminals and for reparations in Germany in the 1960ies.
