Dear Lois,

Willawcze is not so near to Czernowitz. It is situated in the
Czeremosz-valley near Russisch Banilla and Wiznitz.
The village was first mentioned in a document from Vladislav,
king of poland, in 1433.
1776 the owner of the village is Mazil Johann Frunza.
Most of the population consists of ruthenian peasants (at the
time of austrian rule).
Population in 1869: 2.568, in 1900: 3.625.
Attached please find a detail of a map showing Willawcze
(around 1900).
