Good morning,
I hate to digress but as Ranaan wrote about family kissing bread before throwing it away. Well, my grandmother, who was also from the Czernovitz area and then it passed on to my Mother, both kissed bread or cake before they threw it away.
I also did this for many years until one day I said to myself,
'why am I doing this?' and I stopped. I would also be most interested in finding the origin of this custom.
I know that this is on a lighter note, but I really would like to get an answer on this.
This is such a wonderful list and I for one certainly appreciate all the work done by Bruce, Jerome and everyone else who works on and contributes to the list. I for one truly appreciate all that Lucca shares with us. Thank you Lucca.

SEARCHING: GREIF, SCHIESEL, LECHNER all from the Czernovitz area.
