Dear Jewishgenners,

I discovered a great resource for Vizhnitsa researchers:
Ippen's Provinz-Adressbuch. Bezirk Wiznitz, 1895
It is written in German and has hundreds of Jewish names for
Vizhnitsa (Wiznitz) and environs from 1895. Here is the URL (it is

For the Wiznitz directory, click on any page showing on the left side
to start scanning through the listings. You will find a list of
individuals and their occupations/professions sorted by town name.
The "image numbers" = "page numbers" + 2. The index to the towns
found in this directory are on image 48 / page 46. Some of the towns
found in this directory are: Slobodzia-Banilla, Berhometh,
Jablonica, Ispas, Lukawetz (many HITZIG listings!), Mihowa, Millie,
Storonetz-Putilla, Waszkoutz, Willawcze (image 31 - for Lois
Friedman's family!), and Wiznitz (starts on image 33).
