Many thanks to list members who replied to our recent request for
Czernowitz street photographs taken by commercial street-photographers.
We've accumulated an excellent collection and are now at work on our
paper for delivery next month at the UC-Davis conference on Jewish
visual representation. But I have an additional question for fellow
list members. Do any of you have (or know of) home movies taken in
Czernowitz in the 1930's? Owning a home movie camera at that time, of
course, was a fairly expensive investment. And yet, since well-to-do
Jews in Vienna and in Berlin did film home movies in the 1930s, we are
wondering if any such film footage was shot in Czernowitz during that
decade? Or, for that matter, if any films at all were made in
Czernowitz in the 1930s?
