Dear Czernowitz Reunion Planners and Goers,
If you are planning to talk with the Mayor and/or others in Cz
concerning the J Cemetery, I continue to advocate the idea that a core
task force or leadership group be formed to help crystallize and give
focus to what initiatives this on-line community decides to pursue. I
am not getting that there is any clear direction on this at all. Again,
while I'm not going on this trip, I would be glad to participate in such
a committee or task force or whatever you'd like to call it. Bottom
line: I do believe we need a plan, and while many on this list may
bristle at the thought, I think a loosely knit but effective planning
team who is open to collaborating with a wide array of stakeholders
would be most productive and actually have some stay-power.
While I understand we are a diverse group, with no real glue except our
feelings for and ties to Czernowitz, perhaps it is because of this that
some cohesion would be useful. Further, as a personal matter, I am
eager to have my interests and my family's substantial heritage in the
Cemetery served and represented fairly. In other words, I'd like some
say in what we say and do in this, and I know others would too -
including many who are not taking this trip. but, without a "vehicle"
for such participation, I do not see how this can turn into the
long-term and major project it needs to be to succeed.
So, for example, if you decide to meet with the Mayor, who will make
that decision? whose input will it be based on? what's the plan? who
will say what to whom? with what follow-up? with what preparation? and
how will you arrive at a strategy?
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to have a voice and thank you
for engaging in this topic - for me it is a compelling and consequential
issue.
Respectfully,
Nina.
