Dear Friends:
On Nov. 10, Rabbi Schloime Scharf, a subscriber to our list and
grandson of the present-day Sadagora Rebbe, sent me an email to tell
me about the visit of his grandfather along with about 400 Hasidim to
Sadagora. The occasion marked not only the Yahrzeit of the passing
of Rabbi Yisroel Friedman, but it also marked the opening of an
International Chassidic Center at the site of the Great Temple of
Sadagora. The building had decayed badly since its abandonment years
ago, following it's post war usage as an agricultural machine plant.
It's a great day for the preservation of Jewish historical sites in
eastern Europe. Efforts to stabilize and save the temple appear to be
ongoing, but from the pictures you can see at the web sites listed
below, the Sadagora Hasidim have come a long way in repairing and
renovating the building. They have also overcome obvious obstacles
in obtaining the rights to work on the building along with the
difficulty in carrying out a project of this magnitude from abroad.
You can read in English about the recent gathering in Sadagora at
this web site:

Photos can be seen, along with text in Hebrew (or Yiddish?) at these sites:
