Norman Manea is No Czernowitzer at all. His mother-tongue IS Rumanian. His
family's particular fate as south- bukoviner deportees is wonderfully
described in his memoirs "The Hooligan's Return"- a highly recommended
reading. He is considered today the most important Rumanian exile writer.
