Jerome and all,
Temple issue:
To put things right: there was no Russian occupation( if this comes to
explain the handling
of the site).
Cz was annexed to the Soviet Union in 1940. The central government did
not
interfere in
local matters. Not that it would make much difference- just for the
record.
I am not religious and calling the site hallowed ground is not meant
religiously.
I have also heard that in one of the versions the place also used
to be
a dicotheque.
I need not explain how this made me feel.
What can be done ? Nothing , many will say.
But it is not necessarily so.
I understand that the organizers need our assistance in
documentation and more.
This should be extended to them unconditionally , it is in our
interest that the history
of Cz Jewry is told .
Occasionally , let them know how we feel.
This is the least we can do
HARDY
