I share your position on many, if not all the points
you mentioned.
Let me just correct a small point, although irrelevant
to the 600 years celebration issue:
In 1940, the Soviet Union annexed unilaterally
northern Bukowina and Cz with it, of course. From an
international legal point of view this was
<occupation>. It's only after the Yalta conference in
February 1945 that it officialy became part of the SSR
Ukraine and, thus, integrated into the USSR.
In my case, for example, being born in Cz in August
1941, I was still born in Romania, not in the USSR as
Moscow would like it to be: it took me five years, but
I finally had it ruled that way by a tribunal in
France.
