[Cz-L] Please help me!

Hello all,

I have been following the Czernowitz list since it began, but I haven't been
very active. Now, I have a BIG question and I hoping that some of you can
be of help to me.
My grandparents came from Wallachia (Vilok) which in 1900 was part of
Austria Hungary but is now part of Romania. It is not far from Czernowitz. Now,
my plight. Is Wallachia a town, region, or what?
In my grandparents papers (Ellis Island) it shows that they came from
Wallachia but I'm now finding out that it isn't a town or village at all.
SO WHERE DO MY GRANDPARENTS COME FROM? How can I find out where exactly
they came from?
