Welcome back Sylvia,
If somebody arrived in L. A. from N.Y. by train and asked where he comes
 from he
could say: New York - Cleveland -Chicago - Des Moines - Omaha - S.L. City -
Las Vegas .
This is for hyphenated interim stations.
He can also simply say that he came from N.Y.
So can we simply say - we are Jewish.
