I again want to thank all those who have written me,
to thank me for working on the Popovici memorial plaque project.

All along I had help from many members of this list and from others,
who are not members of this list but are known to many of us.
All who worked on this project deserve our thanks.
I will try to name them all, but since there are so many, please
excuse me if I forget to name some.

They are:

Radu Ioanid of the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC,
gave me extensive advice and information.

Vadim Altskan of the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC,
wrote to the Chernivtsi city authorities on my behalf
and translated from and to Ukrainian.

Wolf Moskovich of the Hebrew University, gave advice
and translated from and to Ukrainian.

Iosif Vaisman of Chernivtsi and George Mason University
and a member of this list, translated from and to Ukrainian
and was the one to come up with the idea of using the term "primar"
In referring to Popovici, in the Ukrainian text of the plaque,
when the term "mer" was not acceptable to the Chernivtsi authorities
and I thought the term "kerivnyk" was unsuitable.

Dr. Josef Bursuc of Chernivtsi for his advice and for taking on
the work of filling all the necessary forms and following the procedures
necessary for getting permission to have the plaque placed
in a public space in Chernivtsi.

Lyudmila Aliyeva of Chernivtsi and member of this list.
For helping me find the house at which Traian Popovici lived,
for taking and sending me lots of photographs of the house and
vicinity and for suggesting the excellent designer, Sergei Kulipanov.

Zoya Danilovich of Chernivtsi, for translating my letters
to Chernivtsi officials from English to Ukrainian and interceding
on my behalf with them.

Hardy Breier, for advice and help with the design and wording
of the plaque, finding a suitable photograph of Traian Popovici
and general willingness to help.

Adrian Barbu Berler, for establishing the correct address at which
Traian Popovici lived on the Karolinengasse, by contacting
Dr. Billig, who was a neighbor of Popovici.

Peter Elbau, for supplying me with old maps of Czernowitz, so I could
Determine how to convert the old house number to the current one.

Lehaci Florentin, for supplying information, data and photographs
of Traian Popovici as well as help in writing the Romanian text
of the inscription.

All the many members of this list, who worked on the design and the text
of the plaque, tirelessly checked my Romanian spelling and grammar,
searched for proper photographs and data and were willing to contribute
of their time and labor to make this project become a reality.

Last, but not least, Thanks also to all those who encouraged me
when I most needed encouragement.

MANY, MANY THANKS,

Mimi
