New winds are blowing in Czernowitz.
The inclusion of Rumanian in the plate, the proposed inclusion of
Popovici's
picture in the City Hall of Fame (see Florentins mail) the local school
boys
participation in the cemetery clean-up are good signs.
Let us join in - I propose we place the opening into the hands of
the municipality.
Let Mayor Fedoruk pull the string.
The advantages are obvious :
1. They have the know-how.
2. It will get the best possible coverage.
3. The plate will be endorsed as a city memorial site.
The question is, will they take it ? I have a feeling they will.
In case they don't , the ceremony will have to be
Jewish-organized.
After all, the ceremony is important but short and soon forgotten.
The plate stays on.
