Thanks to Hardy for the "swiss link", quite an interesting report, and as
far as Joseph Schmidt goes, surprisingly autocritical. Concerning "Schwitzer"
etc., I think Berti gave the correct answer.
I recall that I too was taken to the Schwitzbad a few times, I don't
remember if it was the Roemerbad, but it was on Russische Gasse. The important
thing for me as I recall, (I was always quite a Fresser) is that it was during
the winter (could have been 1940), and what I enjoyed most were the Wuerstl
and beer afterwards in a next door bodega called "Botner.
