Sorry, forgive my stupidity, but Christian women are supposed
to cover their heads (at least in church) according to their writings.
Christian men aren't obligated to wear headcovering in public,
in fact they must remove any headcovering when paying respect
for the dead, etc.
We male Jews are supposed to not walk three paces without having
our heads covered. This is because we are "servants" of HaShem.
Observant Jewish women are supposed to wear a scarf or similar
over their hair in public, as a sign of modesty(?)
Therefore, my ignorance would force me to conclude that the couple
wasn't Jewish, or if they were, they weren't very 'observant' Jews.
