  Dear Bruce,
    This is my speculation:
      This is the Old Town with street names by profession : Uhrmacher
,Wechsler..
        Wechsler ,probably moneychanger , is spelled with "ch". No other
way.
           Used as a family name - the spelling is as per individual choice.
              There is no" wexler" as a German word.
