Artist Bernard Reder (1897 - 1963) is one of the famous people born
and educated in Czernowitz. He is recognized as one of the greatest
abstract figurative sculptors of the twentieth century. His works
can be found in the Whitney museum of American Art, in the Museum of Modern
Art in New York, in the National Gallery of Washington D.C., In the Israel
museum and countless others. What is less well known, is that in the
1920ies, Reder sculpted monuments for the Jewish cemetery of Czernowitz.
Would any members of this list, research which monuments in the Jewish
cemetery of Czernowitz were sculpted by Reder and if possible obtain
photographs of these monuments?
Shabbat Shalom,
Mimi
