Hi about czernowitzer superstitions...both my grandmother and mother ha=
d a fixed belief that if you lost or misplaced something you were sure to fi=
nd it if you placed a glass upside down under a table. I have no idea if thi=
s ever helped except we all knew where to find missing glasses! cornel

    But if she was ugly then it was :
   " Si is a Farseienisch " That means that if a pregnant woman took a
    fixed look at her face the baby would be born ugly.
      What is a fixed look ? If the "schwangere " looked at the
"Farseienisch's"
    face for 3 or more seconds without blinking.
       This condition could be undone by a visit to the "Bube".
         This brings us to a new chapter : Czernowitzer superstitions.
